Cielo Tejido : The Art of Etzatlán

Foundation Cielo Tejido is a civil association of women from Etzatlán, Jalisco, who creates weaving by hand through the crochet technique to build monumental artwork in public spaces. Thanks to their work, they were awarded a Guinness record in 2019 for incorporating the largest handmade crochet pavilion in the world, made with more than 2,800 square meters of thread, exhibited on the main streets of the municipality of Etzatlán, Jalisco.

Cielo Tejido at Expo Dubai 2020
Among their main achievements, their essential participation in theinternational exhibition "Expo Dubai 2020" stands out. Due to the collaboration with the plastic artist Betsabeé Romero, they have woven a facade of more than 1,500 square meters of the Mexican Pavilion. This piece of art represents a splendid sun alluding to the world's awakening after the long confinement caused by the pandemic.
The women of Etzatlán
Through their artwork, the women of Etzatlán have been able to heal the emotional wounds that have hurt them throughout their lives, in addition to motivating them in recent years to eradicate the feeling of loneliness generated by the isolation caused by the pandemic. Within the philosophy of its founders Concepción Siordia and her daughter, Lorena Ron: "United, we are stronger," the Association intends that everyone across its urban interventions witness the cultural and artistic legacy headed by the female talent that distinguishes Etzatlán.
