Presentation of several plates from the comic strip and photos from the expedition to Easter Island
On the occasion of the launch of the graphic novel Caballero Bueno, by Thomas Lavachery and Thomas Gilbert, the Art & History Museum is presenting a series of original plates from the work, along with a selection of photographs and museum inscriptions from the 1934 Franco-Belgian expedition to Easter Island.
Inspired by the story of Henri Lavachery, the grandfather of Thomas Lavachery, who participated in the 1934 expedition, the novel tells the story of the island in the early 20th century, when part of the territory was managed by the British company Williamson & Balfour, under the authority of Chile. In 1933, one of the company's members, Anthony Wilcox, is brutally murdered. After weeks of fruitless investigation, the Chilean president sends one of the country's best inspectors, Guillermo Valverde, to solve the case.
Several plates from the book and a series of photographs from the expedition are presented alongside the statue of Pou Hakanononga and two remarkable wooden figurines of Easter Island.
