Mokuhanga Magic : demonstration

Mokuhanga Magic is a project by Vladimir Ivaneanu and Soetkin Everaert. Two artists with a shared passion for the technique of Japanese woodcut. Since January 2023, they have been participating in a master apprenticeship programme within the Focus Vakmanschap project. For two years, Vladimir will pass on his know-how about the technique of woodcutting and printing to Soetkin. Together, they will explore the possibilities that Japanese woodcut can offer in the European printmaking landscape as an accessible, innovative and ecological technique.

The result of this journey will be presented to the public through a mobile exhibition - Weg van de Japanse houtsnede - which can be visited free of charge at the Museum from 29.10.24 to 05.01.25. What's more, you can see the artists at work on 09.11! Vladimir and Soetkin will explain their creative process, show their materials and explain step by step how a traditional Japanese print is made.

Saturday 09.11.24 drop in from 14:00 to 16:00 in the museum shop of the Art & History Museum.

Free of charge
