Atelier Brodé

Do you feel comfortable using cross stitch, flat stitch and running stitch, or have you long wanted to master them? Do you already own five different embroidery scissors, or does your knowledge only go so far (yes, the thread goes through the hole of the needle)? Whatever your level, unplug for two days and join the Museum of Art & History's atelier brodé. A two-day masterclass full of inspiration, wonder, experimentation and creativity.

Studio teachers Brigitte Fossion and Christine Willemen are two seasoned museum educators who know the collections like the back of their hand. Walk with them and see delicately embroidered Chinese purses, luxurious textiles from the Islamic world, colourful moccasins from North America and impressive medieval priest robes. All made with simple tools: needle, thread and lots of patience.

Get hands on in the studio where you can explore a variety of materials. Step by step, we will try different possibilities together so that everyone can master the techniques at their own pace. From samplers to a finished product, you will definitely go home with something to be proud of.
